Identity of old trunk and its letters and numbers

I found an Armed Forces trunk, the kind that stands on end and opens like a book.   After the name of the officer, it says, RCE, CO 948, TA263. Can anyone help me as to what these letters and numbers mean? Thanks.

RCE stands for Royal Canadian Engineers. As for the others, I would want more context before attempting to answer the query, but they might be draft or movements identifiers.
