Increasing my chances of going as Infantry in the Reserves

So I will be applying to the Calgary Highlanders as soon as I finish Grade 10. Is there anything I can do now to increase my chances of getting accepted? Also, I am not sure how BMQ works for the reserves. Do you finish your BMQ with your local unit or do you go to a base during the summer months?

Seriously, most infantry reserve units are continuously recruiting. Are you going to be old enough to enrol immediately post-Grade 10? Minimum enrollment age in the Primary Reserves is 16.

Both versions of BMQ are currently being run in the reserves, the two options are doing it on weekend installments and doing the course as a full-time block of training.

Pretty much what Ostrozac said, though the age requirements have been changed. You now have to be 17 in order to apply.

Untrue. I am 16 and joined, Finished my CFAT, and have my Physical in 1 week. With a parents signature, you can join at 16.

These questions (including the whole age to join debacle) have been asked and answered ad ininitum.  If the site search function doesn't work, google will suffice.  As will the old fashioned method of looking at each topic individually.
