Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Outside of the yoke, and changing from Bren gunner mag pouches to C1 and then C7 mag pouches, the ‘82 Pattern webbing was really just ‘51 pattern webbing made by an idiot.

The plastic tabs constantly broke (both the attachment to the belt, and the pouch closure), and the ‘secondary’ Velcro tab attachment became the primary…

At least better in concept than the ‘64 that only had the Velcro

But a very good example of the CAF not doing any decent trials for feedback as they would have showed this early.

Rumour has it that brass doesn't break.

I am a little unclear on the purpose of this thread. I came to read about Artillery modernization and instead learned about rifle grenades and web gear…
I'd been wondering that for a while but figured eventually forage caps would enter the conversation and that would at least bring it back to gunners.... It is army.ca after all. :)

AND The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch..

You didn't expect that...

Not Canadian. We had special blank rounds (black I seem to recall) for them. Called ballistite blanks in other countries. No bullet trap or shoot through for us!

Indeed. The round was called a C33 Ballisite Cartridge. It was flat on the end and was sealed at the mouth by a disc secured in place with red lacquer. Around the mouth there was a lacquered 6 mm black band.

If you look at Chapter 4 here: http://www.freepyroinfo.com/Pyrotec..._385_007_Pt_001_Grenades_and_Pyrotechnics.pdf

You can see the use of the Grenade Launcher L1A2 for use with the FNC1A1.

:ROFLMAO:
Immediate Action. SHOULD THE GRENADE SAFETY LEVER UNINTENTIONALLY BE RELEASED WHEN ON THE RIFLE, THE IMMEDIATE ACTION WILL BE TO FIRE THE RIFLE. IF THE RIFLE FAILS TO FIRE THEN THE NEXT IMMEDIATE ACTION IS TO THROW THE ENTIRE RIFLE, GRENADE, AND LAUNCHER, DOWN RANGE AND THEN TAKE COVER.

Sometimes folks have nothing to say but we can't stop talking.

That's changing. People are expecting more and more precision.

🍻
Agreed on Point 1 - and point 2.

People really believe in miracles.....like the "surgical strike" of a 500 pound guided bomb. Its far from surgical.

The parts to the puzzle.
