Hey all,
Just looking for info on the 1 Canadian Field Hospital Det Ottawa - coincidentally saw this unit mentioned in another thread.
I'm currently in my final year of my Bachelor of nursing and I keep thinking about rejoining. I believe at this time in my life rejoining, the PRes would be the best option as I have minimal desire to deal with postings again. Former RegF QL5 Med Tech, released 4b into the Sup Res at the end of my contract, currently under 5 years from the date of my release (Sept 2022). I'm using the VAC education grant for my program, so I am unable to rejoin in any capacity until my program is over, or it will interfere with my funding. I'm planning on applying this February/March with the idea recruitment will still be ongoing by the time I finish my degree. There are no Res Field Ambs locally to me but it's my impression that I would work remotely with this unit (?). I previously spoke to a recruiter from (years ago) where I was told they wouldn't take me as a NO as I was never OFP but they would accept me as a Med Tech.
Was hoping for more insight with:
- With the trade split, would I even be considered OFP at this point? Would I be rejected due to this?
- How does the PRL work? Do I apply for taskings/training/deployments from a laptop? I do not completely understand how this process works in the Reserves in general.
- Should I just wait until I'm closer to a Res Field Amb and apply as a NO? I mainly don't want my quals to expire in addition to having to do BMOQ/trades training while working a civie job.
Any other input and/or advise is always appreciated.
