I resently have been discaharged out of the U.S. Marine Corps and  did eight years as a Combat Engineer. I am considering going into the Canadian Armed Forces, is there any information that or a different direction than the normal lines of recruiting, boot camp, or do i fall in with the regular process. I have been trying to find info on this but for some reason seems hard to get, so if someone could be straight that would be great. Thanks for the help.

Normal recruiting process applies, starting with the requirement for Canadian citizenship.

This thread leads to a few others that touch on the subject:  http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/33593.0.html

Yes start by becomming a canadian citizen first. Also was your discharge from the marines on good terms?

how come u dont want to go back to marine  corps?
Why do you want to leave the United States?
just curious

I am a Canadian citizen, and want to move back. Also i have a honorable discharge from the Marines so i guess i am half way there

Mod Edit: Welcome to the warning ladder. There are only a few steps on it to the exit. And the sheer audacity, and/ or stupidity, of your above comment has just got you closer to the door. There are no down steps, only up, and your halfway already. I suggest you go back and read the Forum Guidelines while your on your time out. You may want to fill in your profile when you're allowed to post again. Soldiers like Marine 1371 don't have to justify themselves to the likes of people that hide behind empty profiles..

Sorry for the flamer, Marine, we do what we can. ::)

koss78a, the guy says he has 8 years in the Marines. I have a funny feeling he is not afraid of much, if anything at all.

if i had a beer right now id give it to you. the man served the US army with pride and honour, he was honourably discharged and now wishes to serve in the Canadian army which is involved in the middle east (afghan not Iraq) it is dangerous either way and i would be PROUD and HONOURED to serve with this man if i had the opportunity.

edited to add: goodluck marine and i hope you make it into the canadian forces.

That's awesome!

There seems to be alot of U.S. Marines wanting to join the Canadian Forces. While I was at my local armoury for an information orientation, there was an ex-U.S Marine going to school here with Iraq-experience wanting to join our army. Thing is he didnt' have Canadian citizenship.

koss78a, we don't appreciate the use of MSN talk on this board. Take the time to write the text properly; if you don't have time to do this, then do not reply.
Before you go around criticizing someone who has been there and done that,   let us know a bit more about you by updating your profile.

Marine1371, welcome to Army.ca and good luck in your project of joining the CF.

Thanks for all of your support guys. What would the easiest route for me to get ahold of a recruiter then, while i am still in the U.S.? Just call or e-mail? Another thing is that i already have been to Iraq in 2003 for ten months, and about ten other countries for the gentleman that thinks i am afraid ;D
  Again thanks for the help

Marine,

Call 1 800 856 8488 for the recruiter nearest to you.

If the number does'nt work, call your nearest Canadian Embassy or consulate. They will be able to get you in contact with a recruiter.

Good luck!
