Interested in joining the family

Hey guys, I am interested in joining the big family of men and women who part-take in the Canadian military.

I am looking at this specific field - http://www.forces.ca/en/job/avionicssystemstechnician-47#info-1

I am wondering how does it work though, I don't have any training related to the field so would I do all my training on military bases or do I have to go to college/university for a degree before doing so. Also lets say I did this, I am wondering if I stay on a military base always or do I go home after my shift. I ask this because even though right now I don't have a family, In the future I will and I am wondering how does this situation works out. If anybody has information and would mind sharing that would be great. Also would I still get to participate in combat training even though with my job I am unlikely to actually go to war? I would still like to participate in drills/routines.

Did you even read that page? Or any other page on this site before you hit the post button?  More reading less posting, there are already a ton of threads detailing this occupation in particular, and all the other questions.
