Been lurking around this Forum for a few months now and decided it's time to break the ice.

Started coming around these parts looking for information on the Infantry Reserve with the intention of joining the Westies 'B' Company in Aldergrove, BC.  Working in Politics and Provincial Government it seemed like a good way of testing the waters as I've been considering a career in the Forces since I was a wee lad.

Put my application in a little over a month ago and had my CFAT scheduled within a week (Vancouver Recruiting Center is fantastic).  That CFAT flipped my entire life around.  Coming out of it I wasn't even sure if I had passed, especially having not recognized a single word in the vocabulary section.  Turns out I more than passed, but qualified for the AEC (Aerospace Control Officer) position or MARS.  Taking a week to think it over I realized there's just no way I could pass up on such a tremendous opportunity.  Just came back from my interview today and everything seems to be rolling ahead.  Medical and Background Check are pending, and then just wait for the phone call.  Really hoping to get AEC.

*sits beside the phone for the entire summer*

Thank you milnet.ca for all the fantastic information I've found!  I'll be around, and looking forward to seeing some of you in person.

Hey there, well let me be the first to say congratulations. I am from New West myself, and had gotten the CFAT score for AEC as well when I first applied. It's great that you see this as such a great opportunity. Best of luck with the rest of the process! Keep us all posted.

One note though, this probably could have gone in the 'Personal Stories' thread haha.

Good point ID  :)  If someone could move this thread would be appreciated.

Update on whats happening.

Medical and interview went well back in July.  A bit of a mess up happened sometime after though, and I got a call last week to schedule my medical.  Seems someone didn't read my file fully and that delayed me a bit.

Early August I told my current employer that I was looking at joining the Forces but did not know when anything was going to happen.  I said there was a very slim chance of leaving for the first week of September, but would likely be around until January.  I guess they took it personally or something because I just got the news that they took my "slim chance" to mean I had resigned as of the end of August.

Sooooo, I'm out of a job as of end of next week.  Fun.  Really wouldnt mind that phone call right now, the civvie world sucks.
