Iran Super Thread- Merged

Whatever’s about to happen will probably be soon. Basically everyone has told their citizens to GTFO of Lebanon by any means and a lot of airlines have stopped flights there. The Brits just evacuated the families of their Beirut embassy staff, and we had a C-17 depart Beirut this morning with unspecified passengers on board.

I’m seeing reports of an unusual amount of GPS jamming in both Israel and Iran today.

The sun went down there an hour or two ago.

Here it comes. Terrifying that two nuclear states could be duking it out in the next few days.

That doesn’t make sense. That’s like the US targeting some rando Iranian in Canada for the Iranians killing the commander of CENTCOM.

Either there’s more we’re not being told, or the Revolutionary Guard is dumber than I thought.

I'd guess 90% the first bit, and maybe 10% the second - after all, even keener organizations are never 100% immune from the odd weiner, right?

70 people killed by some sort of chemical explosion at Iranian port. Russian waterbombers assisting with firefighting

Last count also seemed to have >1,200 injured. That is one hell of a big bang. Was somebody shipping explosives under cover, maybe rockets/fuel??? One NYT article sites an unidentified source saying it was, "...sodium perchlorate, a major ingredient in solid fuel for missiles." Was it being shipped into or out of Iran?

I believe it’s their biggest cargo port, and whatever brewed up blew it the hell up. This will hurt them for sure.

I wonder if some port worker got a call on their pager...

I am about 70% convinced that it was human error/poor safety practices and 30% Israeli intervention. Of course it could be the Israelis discovered the poor safety practices and decided to help it along.....

The red-orange smoke is nitrogen dioxide. This is looking like Beruit 2020 or Tianjin, China in 2015 - ammonium nitrate fertilizer stored incorrectly.
