Iran Super Thread- Merged

I guess I didn't look far enough down the comments list.

But here's a burning building, Grok suggests it's the real deal. Comments suggest a 62% chance of regime change so not a gimme for sure...

maybe yes maybe no. Some of the leadership may be bailing out but the revolutionary guard is still there and they have nowhere to go unless they want to volunteer for service in Ukraine, I guess. Certainly Putin would take them in. But having nowhere to go means they have nothing to lose and that doesn't look good for finding a reasonable solution

Well, to be fair, he did alot of work on developing more humane methods of torture ;)

According to a senior SAVAK officer, after the Siahkal attack interrogators were sent abroad for scientific training to prevent unwanted deaths from "brute force".` Methods of torture included sleep deprivation; extensive solitary confinement; glaring searchlights; standing in one place for hours on end; nail extractions; snakes (favored for use with women); electrical shocks with cattle prods, often into the rectum; cigarette burns; sitting on hot grills; acid dripped into nostrils; near-drownings; mock executions; and an electric chair with a large metal mask to muffle screams. Prisoners were also humiliated by being raped, urinated on, and forced to stand naked. However, the torture method of choice remained the traditional bastinado used to beat the soles of the feet.

Still, there's quite a few brutal dictators I'd call worse, like:
Hitler
Stalin
Mao
Pol Pot
Castro
Saddam
Pinochet
Idi Amin

The Ceucescus from Romania - who ended up against a wall on or about Christmas Day 1989

Apparently some thousand or so civilians were killed overnight, more arrested by the IRGC, but it's not deterring the people, My wife's friend mom is Iran, apparently the IRGC brought in thugs from Iraq speaking Arabic to fight the civilians.

There is a point where the population will say "fuck it, in for a penny in for a pound".

Signs of that already, IRGC bases have been over taken, and pokice stations to in several areas. For anyone following, many military members have quality posted over the last few months symbols of the old Shah, and expressed anti gov views. The time may come soon where they make their move against the IRGC

Well, you have to look after the streets...

Iran supreme leader signals upcoming crackdown on protesters ‘ruining their own streets’ for Trump

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed Trump as having hands “stained with the blood of Iranians” as his supporters shouted “Death to America!” in footage aired by Iranian state television. State media later referred to the demonstrators as “terrorists,” setting the stage for a violent crackdown as in other protests in recent years.

Protesters are “ruining their own streets ... in order to please the president of the United States,” the 86-year-old Khamenei said to a crowd at his compound in Tehran. “Because he said that he would come to their aid. He should pay attention to the state of his own country instead.”

Iran’s judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei separately vowed that punishment for protesters “will be decisive, maximum and without any legal leniency.”

Next step: let's see big names speak out publicly against the regime and/or units refuse to do their nastiest.

Late night statement released by the EU, Canada, and Australia. Calling on the regime, particularly IRGC and Basij, to stop the killings and arbitrary use of force. It must be really brewing up to merit a multinational comment at this hour- later still in Europe.
