Iran Super Thread- Merged

Iran’s firing lots back, and a bit is getting through… It seems almost sporadic though; I’m wondering if Iran basically has standing of ‘launch if attacked’ but is struggling to coordinate? Missiles and drones are flying all over the Gulf and Israel. Rather than, it seems, tighter more concerted attacks on specific bases or facilities to try to completely overwhelm air defenses.

I would love to know what the consumption of missile interceptors looks like versus stockpiles and production rates. Very clearly the availability and use of large numbers of cheap drones like Shahed or, now, the U.S.’ reverse-engineered version thereof, ‘LUCAS’, is going to change how integrated air defense is looked it. Lessons do not appear to have been learned and implemented quickly enough from Ukraine.

On that, I wonder if this will reduce Russia’s access to Shahed style drones or if they’re producing enough of their own now?

They produce their own but I'm sure there's tons of other materials that Russia has been relying on Iran for. Taking them off the board is a win for the middle east and Ukraine.

The only thing I can think of beyond them just flailing this they are trying to deplete stocks of interceptors in the region before more coordinated strikes. That or the willy nilly stuff is deception to distract from something else.

My money is on flailing.

Which countries did Israel fly over to hit Iran? Did those countries allow Israel fly over them or did Israel fly over without their permission or knowledge?
Honestly, it’s pretty likely they overflew KSA, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.

Longer route would be Turkey.

No idea on the permissions, but they used a lot of non stealthy stuff. So I’m guessing that based on what’s occurred that whomever was overflown got a short notice warning of the airspace situation.
