Random anecdotal information; my dad lives in Western Australia and drives a diesel Subaru for cost effectiveness.

Australia only has two big refineries left; they import finished petroleum distillates.

A month ago a liter of Diesel for him was AUD $1.39. Last night at his local gas station it’s now $3.09. Regular unleaded is sitting around $2.50.

AUD and CAD are within five cents of par, so it’s equivalent to diesel at about $2.95 here.

The other danger is the assumption that there is no plan.

Its about there in Europe (at least Italy and Germany) while Ive been there. The most expensive I saw was premium diesel for €2.50/L

I took this while out for a walk by my house near Dublin, last weekend. Apparently the prices have dropped now due to a combination of lower crude prices and the government cutting 15 cents from the tax on diesel and 10 cents off petrol.

If those countries withhold capital to, among other things, rebuild their depleted missile defense systems, “that’s a problem,” said a second person, one of the three familiar with the administration’s conversations about the investment concerns.

“When you can’t have people flying into Dubai and feeling safe at the airports being stricken across the pond from Iran, it’s not good for tourism there,” the person said. “So you could have that situation where it leads to not being able to invest the trillions of dollars the Gulf has promised to invest in the U.S.”

Not sure I’d go that far but I’d love to know more about this engagement. If he was evading, he rolled in slowly and it still hit him so I say luck played a part. If he was trying to max turn inside the missile’s aero and Pn limits, that would indeed be quite something. Skeptical but over that land I guess ejecting isn’t the ideal option. Don’t think they have mws either. I’d like to know what kind of missile it was.

I wonder how much of a windfall Russia will see with the Baltic and Black Sea available to Ukrainian attack. Will ships continue to risk being loaded? Will the ports and terminals even be capable? Not sure about the Black Sea but images from Ust-Luga, Primorsk and Vyborg look unfriendly

Look like a paint can. Much more insurgent like than anything Israeli or American.

Pressure Cookers, Pots, Pails etc were very common IED vessels over the past 25 years.


I suspect the local anti-regime folks are as well aware of IED methods as insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan, seeing as Iran sits in between both.

Not new. The Basij have long taken in young children, it’s how the IRGC builds their structure.

Take the orphans and very young children off the streets that their vagrant parents cannot afford (or you just jailed their parents for whatever reason), boom given them food, religious indoctrination, and a roof over their head, then send them off to grow your network

It is a spiderweb due to so many overlayed connections back to the IRGC Command.
