Iran Super Thread- Merged

Does not look like canned food, some sort of cluster munition?

Following up on this.

Iran images appear to show land mines scattered by U.S. forces, a first in years

EDIT: At the press briefing that just ended.

White House refuses to comment on report that U.S.-made landmines are being used in Iran

When asked about reports that American-made landmines have been spotted on the ground in Iran and whether Trump signed off on using landmines in Iran, Leavitt said: “I don’t have any comment on that report today.”

When asked whether landmines are being used at all, Leavitt again declined to answer, saying: “I don’t have any comment on that.”

Yeah, kiss those investments goodbye.

Sadly for us as well. Those investments that Carney had worked so hard with the Qatari's....

Ukrainians helping the Gulf States out. I know some of you disagree with how much Ukraine is helping and I have no doubt the Ukrainians are playing up their contribution in order to win friends and support for their conflict. Still I also believe they have valuable lessons to teach as well.

Since April is upon us, we're about to see this start to unfold.

Well, the Gulf are purchasing their USV's now on top of their interest in drone interceptors.

In a way it was both but not quite the way you put forward.

The targeting cycle for air strikes is a fairly exact process. The results are more than likely one of the following two situations:

1) a target close to the school was the intended target but there was a technical glitch (mechanical or data entry) that caused the bomb to go "off target;" or

2) the school was the target to be hit but an intelligence failure caused the targeting team to evaluate the school as still being a part of the adjacent base without knowing that it had been turned into a school.

From the material in the press to this point, my guess is that it will turn out to be the latter.

🍻

Here is the answer I got when asking if outdated material might have been responsible for the attack on the school:

Preliminary U.S. military investigations suggest that outdated targeting data provided by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) was likely responsible for the strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' school in Minab, Iran.
  • The Error: Sources familiar with the probe indicate that US Central Command (Centcom) officers used outdated intelligence that failed to account for the school's separation from the adjacent IRGC naval base, which had occurred years prior.
  • The Consequence: The strike, which occurred on February 28, 2026, was initially intended for the military base but hit the school due to these incorrect coordinates, killing over 170 people, mostly schoolgirls.
  • Current Status: While preliminary findings point to this intelligence failure, the Pentagon has stated the investigation is ongoing, and no final conclusion has been officially reached.
Extract from a Reuters report on the attack:

The colored walls visible from satellite imagery as early as 2018 can be seen in a version of the school’s website archived in 2025, whose photos showed girls dressed in identical pink and white in class and at play. The school was also tagged in a local business listing, Reuters found. And multiple satellite images from the months leading up to the strike provide other indications it was a school, including playground markings.

Yeah, kiss those investments goodbye.

No problem - how much ammo can a slightly-used "gifted" presidential jet buy?

Interesting. The USS Ford had a wild time with that fire.

I started a thread on it.
