Iran Super Thread- Merged

Your missing the most important part. Britain is forced to end it due to America threatening to offload their debt and destroy the British economy.

Look at America and everyones stance with their bonds, not that far off debt wise, main difference being it is more spread out than Britain making it harder to unilaterally control them. But if enough economies are effected they might all decide to dump them.

Debt kills empires. Americas debt has made it vulnerable.
Very good point - thanks for bringing it up.

Trump is saying "another 2-3 weeks", and is doing address tomorrow night (April 1st?!) at 9PM.

EDIT: There are also reports that the Iranian ambassador in Beirut has been killed. Prior to this Iran threatened it would begin targetting US tech companies if more leaders were killed.

Can there be any parallels drawn between this war that the US and Israel started with Iran and the 1956 Suez Canal Crisis?

I said this a week ago:

This is increasingly looking like America's Suez moment.

A fair number of countries around the world are already negatively affected economically by this -

Poor brown people don't count in the calculus. Until they start swarming the borders as refugees.....

'False and baseless': Iran's foreign ministry denies country has asked US for ceasefire

Iran's foreign ministry says President Donald Trump's claim that the country has asked for a ceasefire is "false and baseless".

Iranian state TV is reporting the remarks as having been said by foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei.

It comes after Trump said earlier in a Truth Social post that Iran's "New Regime President", who he did not name, had asked for a ceasefire - and that he would consider it "when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear".

'New Regime Leader' - you mean the son of the guy you killed?

Maybe Trump will have him visit the White House together with Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa again. Get them both in suits, no robes or head scarfs.

He's referring to the President. Not the Supreme Leader. And the President is not actually new. He's either intentionally mixing it up to make it sound like they have achieved regime change or he's clueless. I have no idea which.

And really, if you're the Islamic Republic why would you stop now. They have escalation dominance. They can simply hold the Strait hostage until they get significant concessions. And even better for them since the flow to their patron (China) is not threatened.

They have been spinning the narrative for a few days now that the regime has been changed.

"We've achieved regime change. It's our cowardly allies that can't open the Strait. It's the their problem."

Guessing this will be the announcement today.

Of course that does nothing for gas prices at home if Iran doesn't back down.

Another change in tone before his address tonight.

And Macron pointing out the obvious, a defensive alliance is for defence.

Where's all the folks that thought he was playing 5D chess?

Hope it's clear that he didn't have a plan. And put the military in a shit position with a poorly defined mission with bad goals. And got people killed.

Wait and see what he has to say tonight I suppose.

I think he had a plan, and his SecWar was all for it -- so they didn't listen to more informed opinions.

He's certainly given the US defence industry work for years to come. I expect they dug deeper into their arsenal than just the the stuff reaching the end of its shelf life.
