Iran Super Thread- Merged

Reportedly 2 of the 3 have been siezed by the IRGC.

How the hell is Iran conducting VBSS in the strait of Hormuz? without getting absolutely smoked by A-10s or something? What exactly is the USAF doing?

Treaties and alliances work great...until they don't. That's why nations need to look to their own defence first.

The NATO charter is built on that premise.

"Article 3
In order more effectively to achieve the objectives of this Treaty, the Parties, separately and jointly, by means of continuous and effective self-help and mutual aid, will maintain and develop their individual and collective capacity to resist armed attack."

The North Atlantic Treaty.

Separately and individually as well as jointly and collectively

Fast boats, HMGs and RPGs. You might as well hold the Brits responsible for IRA actions. Or the Italians for the Comorra.

How long did partisan activity continue in Europe sfter VE Day?

The navy is sunk but the IRGC is a terrorist mob of ideologues and chancers.

Expect to be hearing about the Basij, the IRGC, the anti-treaty IRGC, the Official IRGC, the Provisional IRGC, the Continuity IRGC and the Real IRGC. Plus half a dozen more with no English translations of their Farsi and Urdu names because that would be selling out.

The Iranian Government will need its own paramilitary Gendarmerie to contain the IRGC and meet the terms of any external treaty.

Or they could just declare them pirates and let the international community deal with them.

1) In US/CAN/UK controlled Europe, it pretty much ended within a week of VE Day. In parts of the SU controlled Europe, various non-German/Nazi elements continued well into the 1950s (I'm looking at you Stepan Bandura followers, you 'Armia Krajowa' in Poland and you 'Forest Brothers' in Estonia/Lithuania).

2) Its like saying the Wehrmacht is defeated by the SS fight on. Both entities fight for the same country.

So this is what a trillion dollars in military spending gets you.

Outsmarted by some dude in Iran with a map and basic understanding of UNCLOS.
Bianco says in his last sentence the ships can transfer cargo to another ship. That is not possible under Innocence Of Passage. He also says the ship can continue without entering international waters. I just can't figure that out, are they going to the end of the territorial waters and then thumb their nose at the US. Anybody can correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, Bianco has an agenda, he hates Trump and will make sure everybody knows it.
Tip: If you anchor due to engine trouble, bad weather, or to help a vessel in distress, you maintain passage status—but anchoring to wait for cargo or conduct repairs without emergency justification can forfeit innocent passage protection.

I think the question is whether the USN is willing to pursue into the sovereign waters of Pakistan and India. Or get that close to Iran's shores.

Is the USA going to hit that ship in a Indian port?

No.

Is the USA going to stop a Indian ship to see if it has Iranian oil on it?

No.

Are you suggesting that the US take unilateral military action against an Iranian ship in Pakistani or Indian territorial waters? The US could ask/pressure Pakistan and India to do it themselves but I'm guessing they may not be that interested in becoming a party to the conflict.

What are the names of these mysterious vessels and where did they go?

Apparently (according to the linked article):
"Satellite imagery tracked by data intelligence firm Vortexa, quoted in a Bloomberg report, shows the Iran-flagged very large crude carriers, Hero II and Hedy, crossing beyond the US-designated line on April 20. Together, these ships have the capacity to transport up to 4 million barrels of oil."

Apparently (according to the linked article):
I never suggested such a thing. I was only pointing out Bianco's post was a sack of crap.

Apparently (according to the linked article):
CENTCOM claims this is inaccurate and that two of those ships are docked in Chah Bahar. I do note from looking at a map that that’s very close to Pakistan.

[Social media post] linked with triumphant claim, followed by triumphant remarks, followed by "well, actually it might not be entirely or even partly true"...

Maybe instead of just replicating the comment threads we could find at places like DailyKos, people could do some digging first.

When you say hit do you mean fire upon? I can't see the Iranian ship being in an Indian port anyway, they don't need that type of aggravation. An Indian ship in Indian waters is not the target of the blockade so why would they inspect it. Anyway, read Brad Sallows post just up page, this is getting silly. X is too prevalent here with it being presented as cold hard fact with no secondary support from reliable sources.
