They’ve chosen to say it for public consumption now. I’d say they’ve been acting like it for a bit now with the critical infrastructure hits.

Fitness is never a bad thing. The worst it will do is not change anything. The benefits are that fitter people heal better, are substantially less likely to get injured, are physically capable of doing every operation, etc.

Fitness is part of training to be as effective as you possibly can be. Every bit counts.

Fitter soldiers are better soldiers, but you're putting a heck of a lot of constraints on yourself if that's the be all end all of it.

I may be wrong though, maybe this war would be going better if the US military was more fit and had higher testosterone levels.

Fitter soldiers are better soldiers, but you're putting a heck of a lot of constraints on yourself if that's the be all end all of it.

Considering the US hasn’t even used a fraction of the force at it’s disposal we haven’t seen what the States is capable of yet. Only airforce bombings and limited naval action has been the COA. Of course that isn’t as physical as a ground invasion.

They have chosen so far not to escalate to the next level, they have the power to do so, the question is do they have the will.

If your taking about occupying any significant portion of the country, I would argue that the US could not do this effectively without: 1) a significant call up of its reserves, over a long period of time, 2) Numerous Allies providing substantial numbers as well.
I don’t see either of these options occurring.

They definitely lack the will to absorb and accept the casualties such a ground war would mean.

Thats a bit of a confirmation bias. Most of that population were exiles from the days of the Shah - of course theyre anti-regime.

I suspect it is like a lot of places:

20% of the population are the regime/are invested in the regime.
60% of the population keep their heads down and just want to be left alone…
