Iran Super Thread- Merged

A fair consensus is that if intelligence exists that justifies what is happening vis a vis Iran and the strait of Hormuz right now, then there is a global imperative to release enough of it to create political buy in. This whole campaign is effectively still born because Trump refuses to do that. I believe the majority of people, myself included, would fully support an extreme array of interventions if the administration was able to demonstrate political consensus on the urgency to do so.

Whether we like it or not, we are in a shooting war with Russia and Iran, supported by China. It behooves our/their government to take the situation as seriously as it warrants. So far, its hard to believe any competency exists at the executive level which means its impossible to reach a critical mass of support in the population for re-armament, which we desperately need.

With the resources available to the US intelligence and military and the Israeli military and intelligence kicking in what they know, I'm pretty confident Trump knows more about the situation than anyone here.

Lack (or at least apparent lack) of Iranian WMD efforts in the 2003 to 2008 frame may have been influenced by what was going on next door and how keen the US administration of the day was to choose "military intervention" from its list of options. I have no notion that any far-reaching conclusions about Iran's long-term goal can be drawn.

A long count of years has passed since then.
