Iran Super Thread- Merged

Their primary weakness is reliance on 5 individual dams for drinking water. Tehran is their centre of power and cannot sustain itself without water. No offense to your broad front proposal, but I think the easiest way to invade would be to blow those dams and then attack directly from the west to capture Tehran. A naval blockade would do the rest. At this point a new national army could be formed etc. in a classic state building exercise.

Any strategy which doesn't involve seizing control of their fresh water day 1 leaves a lot of leverage on the table. Thirst is more powerful than propaganda. People will surrender for a glass of water.
Helluva a war crime youre suggesting there.

It's being widely reported.
Thx.

There is nothing wrong with soliciting ideas. Zero.

I was taught that there is nothing wrong with doing it when making plans. Go ahead and ask for ideas. The cardinal rule is to turn it around, treat it as your own idea. Modify it and make it yours. Most of all, in the end, it is your responsibility. If it works, recognise the effort created by someone else and carry on. If it fails, you take 100% of the blame for it and only you.

Again, I'm extremely leery of statements made by unidentified sources, especially when reported by media like CNN.

We should carry out wars according to LOAC. Not Miss Manner's on Combat.

Nothing wrong with soliciting ideas.

But it does betray something.

If you're out soliciting ideas it usually means you're all out of ideas.

For a soldier who is out there putting their life on the line, its more reassuring to think that your higher ups have a plan opposed to thinking that they are clueless and asking around if anyone else has any bright ideas.

And yes yes, you hate the media, whatever, I'll listen to that when the average youtuber can do investigative journalism. Until then, mainstream media is what you get.

I don't hate media. I spend a lot of my day watching it. There's lots of media out there not tied to major corporations. Many times reporting on the bullshit spewed by their payed media counterparts. It’s not media I hate, but the MSM. Many self promoted media outlets do a better job sussing out the truth, with investigative journalism, than the MSM.

I like Moose on the Loose and Northern Exposure to name just a couple. Oh, and Runkle of the Bailey. He's more knowledgeable about firearms law and government hoodoo than the whole liberal caucus.

I also don't agree that if you ask for an opinion, you are devoid of your own ideas.

This is true.

But I'm not going to lie. I want to hear what the marines are saying.
I'm pretty sure that I could add a few good ones, if I knew what the objective was.

But a few ideas do come to mind
-Something about throwing a ring in a volcano.
-Has anyone stolen the plans for the Death Star yet?

If Iran is trying to develop a functional nuclear weapon for a first strike war of aggression on the entire world (sans Putin and Xi of course), then certain hypotheticals become permissible.

I have already posted about their weapons program. No need to elaborate.

As a worst case scenario:
1. They have been given or developed fission cores. They have succeeded in detonating one and we mistook it for an earthquake etc. Given their known HEU stockpile and technology base, this is a realistic fait accompli present day.
2. They have acquired lithium deuteride through some unidentified means. Given their known sophistication and global relationships, this is a realistic fait accompli present day.
3. They have developed long range missile technology which gives them the ability to realistically threaten parts of NATO. They have demonstrated this very recently so it is a known fact.
4. They manage to miniaturize their HEU + LD fusion warhead and launch it using a known weapons platform. This is speculative but within the realm of reason.
5. They use this arsenal in a surprise first strike hidden within a 'normal' missile barrage.
6. They then threaten additional attacks if they are not given demand XYZ. Or they just kill everyone they can.

What do you think is an appropriate reaction to this sequence of events? My earlier disputations had only to do with the certainty of their program development, not the risk it poses. Public acceptance of certainty without IC and allied consensus creates a very weak foundation for a global war. A war of this nature is existential for us. We haven't been faced with a threat like this since Germany. It requires a rigorous approach so we have the moral authority to prosecute it fully. Its only proper that our political leaders treat it like an existential threat if that is the case. Hence the frustration with Trump. My strategy suggestion wasn't a flippant joke.

Like I said, when youtubers start doing investigative journalism then they can be taken seriously.

Currently they piggyback off of the MSM, toss their own spin on it and call it "news"

Youtubers don't commission polls, they don't develop sources, they don't do investigations, they don't do anything but leech off of what the MSM is doing, and this goes for both sides.

They sit in front of a camera and pull reports from where, oh thats right, MSM.

So spare me with the BS from MSM, youtubers wouldn't exist without them.

So back to the war in Iran, whatever, don't trust CNN or the telegram, or whomever, but just because you don't trust it doesn't mean it's not true. And in this case, it's probably very easy to verify with how widespread the search for ideas seems to be.

Sure. OK🙄

Any alleged “begging for a deal”notwithstanding, doesn’t look like Iran’s prepared to give a trump a freebie on his Strait of Hormuz narrative. Another cargo ship is reported struck today.

Trump has recently pledged attacks on civilian infrastructure for any vessel hit, so we’ll see if he follows through. Iran seems to still be comfortable in the tit for tat, and denial of free transit through the strait appears to be a key objective for them.

It could be they are looking for things like the old dropping a toilet on thine enemy, bacon flavoured mist to spray over bunkers, dropping fake PPCLI moustaches infested with fleas, pelting them with Nickleback CD's, stuff like that.

Make it a true holy war (which Hegseth wants it to be anyway - or is told it should be by his spiritual handlers).

Deploy the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.
