Is this actually possible?

I joined the army hoping I could one day be a Sniper, or even be a part of JTF2. A few weeks after joining (I'm still very new at this, I finished my BMQ about three weeks ago), I asked my section commander what are the steps required to become a sniper. He then told me all the odds that are against me.

Most of them (the ones I can remember, at least) are;

-I have glasses (and am pretty blind without them)
-I have terrible grouping (which I hope will get better with time)
-I am in the Reserves (which I would gladly change, once I am 18)
-I am not physically fit enough (which I'm prepared to change if I know I at least have a chance to accomplish my goal)
-I am not yet high enough in the ranks

Is he right? Is it really next to impossible for me to become what I really want to become?

To be a selected to try out to be a Sniper an attend the course you must be..

Reg Force Infantry
Basic Recce Patrolman Qualified
V2( or is it V3) vision
Qualify Marksman on PWT3
Physically Fit
Smart, know your job, strong Infantry skills, mature, etc
Pass pysch eval
Interview with Unit Master Sniper

As for rank, I've seen Pte-MCpl be students on the Sniper course.

I may be missing some details, but that is the general info.

Also, that comment about only improving your PT if you have a chance at the course is a pretty BS attitude IMO. Regardless of job, even if you can't go to Sniper, SOF, etc you should still strive to be as fit as possible, especially if you want to be in the Infantry. Also, you should be focusing on the short term, which is becoming a trained Soldier.

    Heres the link the JTF2's website.  Do yourself a favor and read the whole thing.  If you have any questions, you can email a recruiter for their unit. 

  You just graduated BMQ?  For the love of god relax!  Get yourself some time in and work on becoming a soldier...........then down the line if you are fit/mature/meet the requirements, by all means look into it.
