I’d take those comments as a crock.
For whatever reason the not decision to use MOP’s there was made.
Despite a lot of beleive to the contrary TS SCI information isn’t just casually thrown around and taken out of briefing (at least without a lot of fallout legally for the leakers).
It was hit by both Israel and the US, with basically surface strikes. Had the IAF used the smaller GBU-72’s they could have definitely penetrated into tunnels and access areas and cause a lot more damage than was done, let alone using the 57’s.
Not being a Nuclear Physicist, I’m not sure what really occurs when enriched uranium is released into the atmosphere, but I’m sure it’s not something very good, and there may have been some significant intentional outrage with a mass casualty event there.
