If your a JAWS and JAWS 2 fan, may I recommend an excellent book I got last year. The Book of Quint by Ryan Dacko. A new to literature writing author, a cable lineman and former US Coast Guard sailor (are they sailors?)
There is another fictional Quint book but it sucks. Ryan actually got the blessing of the Benchley family (Who own the story rights of Jaws novel, Jaws screenplay and the characters from the first two movies) by contributing some of the proceeds to a shark conservancy foundation.
His research and work into telling the story is outstanding and the story grips you from start to finish. The Book is based on Jaws the movie, and goes with that as canon (vs the book which has a few differences).
It basically takes Quint from the sinking of the USS Indianapolis and through the years up until about 5 years before the events of 1974 story Jaws (yes the movie came out in 1975, but the movie story is based on the year 1974).
It goes through some excellent and plausible explanations to why a massive great white ends up in the fictional Amity island waters to begin with. Just for background, Amity Island in the Jaws-verse is situated between the real Martha's Vineyard and the real Nantucket Islands (Yes I know the move was filmed in Martha's vineyard). Hint, hint, an 18-19th century industry plays a pivotal role.
I recommend you read it, its a page turner. Available in print, e book and audible book.
