I understand why a couple specific organizations or parts thereof may have their own particular need for additional or otherwise specific screening, but by and large clearances across the federal government would definitely benefit from harmonization. As a side benefit it would likely be helpful for CAF members releasing and joining the Public Service or other federal agencies.

At one point I had a DND public service Secret clearance, and a CAF Secret clearance.

I had to do both renewals at the same time. Same forms. Same information. Same team processing the renewals.

One was approved, the other one rejected.
