Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I have been wondering when the term "Basic Training" became changed to "Boot Camp"(an American expression I believe)?

I don‘t think it‘s ever been changed, people just use the term "boot camp" out of ignorance.

It has not been changed. "Boot camp" is an Americanization, and carries a lot of poor connotations thanks to stereotypical representations of the USMC‘s Parris Island and movies such as Full Metal Jacket. Abyone on their way to BASIC TRAINING at St Jean, PQ, that expects the experiece that Hollywood has depicted will be very surprised. If their emotion at not being abused by DIs is disappointment, I would question their general suitability for a long service career.
