So I just recieved a call from the CFRC in Winnipeg with a job offer for 215 Sig Ops.  He said I will be going to BMQ at St. Jean on the 11th of January.  I have done a search but haven't really found the information that I am looking for in regards to what is entailed in the job of Sig Ops.  Exactly what equipment do you work with?  What does a normal day entail?

The reason I ask this is because I had requested either Combat Engineer or Infantry as my first 2 choices.  I would like to know what is involved in the job I have been offered, and also if it doesn't seem right for me, to find out if there is a possibility of getting this changed and how I would go about that.

Hey this is not a reply to your questions but I have a question for you.  How long did it take you to get in and how long did it take your medical to come back?  I'm still waiting for mine.  Thanks man, this wait is so brutal.

the medical can take up to 3 months ,

but one thing sorta pisses me off, the original post was about some guy going in as a "sig op", and not even knowing what it is , this is ridiculous!!?!?!??!

I know what the brochures, recruiter, and other sources of information say it is.  What I'm asking is how it is and what it's like from someone who has done it.  Also it was not my first choice, nor my second.  It was what they offered me.  So thank you for reading the post first and please try to utilize some reading comprehension before replying.

To answer the question about the wait time.  I sent in my application at the beginning of May, went in for my tests and interview toward the end of June.  I found out I needed another form from my doctor and due due our lovely medical system was only able to send that in at the beginning of September.  They called me back with the offer earlier today.  So from time application was sent in till now, about 6 and a half months.

I can't answer your question but congrats! See you in January.

Also, you should be able to find something out about it by using the search feture.

I've been waiting about a year to get in and finally got the "official" call today at 9:41am. Accepted offer for R031 Reserve position, swearing in Dec 9th. They wanted me to swear in tomorrow!!! Couldn't though, have a unit test for nightschool, they were very nice about it. Hold on and don't giveup!

PS> I was one of those people who made it through some medical issues, yes, you can still be hired as long as you provide all the documents they request and don't LIE. I have noticed some people on this site suggesting they could try and lie they're way through. Not a good idea folks.

Finally ready to serve my f*cking country!!!

hey Jaawod I'll see you on the 11th I'm also going in to the 215 reg.

What kind of medical issues did you go through?  Can you explain that?  1 year is a long time was it just your medical that was holding your application up?

Now that I think about it, it was about 9 months so I do apologize. It was the whole "childhood asthma" thing. The medical Sgt told me I shouldn't have even bothered putting it down that I had had it because the last time I took medication for it was when I was about 16 yrs old... Also have taken clinical tests from respitory specialists and I have been legally proven to have "beaten" asthma. The recruiter said being "that" honest was stupid on my part. Anyway....
