wich one do you think would be the best and why.

i personally think that the Kar98k is the best. cause of all the lil feature as the control-feedability and such.

thanks for the feedback :soldier:

I haven't shot the Springfield, only the K98 but, the Springfield I handled had virually the same bolt with the Mauser extractor.  This means it had controlled feeding.  I think the M1903 was based on the Mauser after the US fought against some in the Spanish-American war.  Both have the reputation as fine accurate rifles.  I still prefer the SMLE or the No4 for a service rifle of that era.  I know the action may not be as strong, but I find the cock on closing action smoother to work.

Hey guys i'd like to have more feedback ......if it aint too much asked :soldier:

please

Best at what?   You haven't asked a clear question.   If you want to kill an intruder at 10 paces, I reckon both would make a fair size hole in a person.

Most economical to shoot?   Surplus 30.06 seems to be more plentifuly than 7.92mm.   Reloading costs are probably comparable.

Most accurate?

Simplest to disassemble and maintain?

Easiest to shoot?  My Mauser has a cruel steel butt plate...

What is it you want to know?

Did you ever think it maybe possible that no one here (or very few) have handled either weapon or just one or the other. Kind of hard to make a comparison in that case don't you think.

i didnt asked about you making a comparison on your experience i asked wich one do you prefer...why

Prefer for what?

Accuracy?

Cost of weapon?

Ease of maintenance?

Cost to shoot?

Higher accurate range?

I thought about LCF...

K98s are good only when you have all the bits.  I redid the wood on mine, but made sure to get a front sight hood and cleaning rod.  Looks like crap without it.  And a nice wartime brown leather sling and steel fittings, of course (not the postwar Israeli ones with brass fittings)

qb:

As Michael posted above, depends on your criteria.  Both rifles have been endlessly "sporterized" and re-barreled and both rifles have their fans.  From a sporterizing perspective, the K-98 is easier to work with however.  The Springfield '03-A3's action is extremely hard, and by that I mean that the steel was case hardened to the point where a file won't even scratch the surface.  In order to mount a scope on to the rifle, the points where the mounting screws are attached to the action must be annealed in order to soften the surface so that it can be drilled and tapped.  If not done correctly, you can soften the metal too much and ruin what was a perfectly good action.  If you can find one these days, the Springfield '03-A4 action was manufactured as a sniper version of the A3 and had mounts built as part of the action and I believe that Conetrol made rings and fittings for the A4.  Good luck finding one though, they are rarer than hen's teeth.

K-98 actions are still manufactured today by companies like BRNO and are very popular as are original K-98's.

Hope that helps.

Go for a P-14, nice action and it has the looks as well. Or just the best one in my opinion and buy a number4.  Although the 303 round might cost a bit more, its worth it in my opinion.
