Ohhh..boo hoo. no one likes your  music....boo hoo.....any thoughts out there (if anyone cares?)

The rapper says he's never going to attend a Juno Awards show ever again.

"I'm not going to be the Juno's monkey no more," he said from the red carpet of Sunday evening's Juno Awards broadcast. "I'm not coming back any more."

Offishall, who has one win for the six Juno nominations he's garnered since 1997, cites Canadian hip-hop's low profile at this year's awards as the catalyst for his decision.

"Really, to me it's really atrocious what they do to hip-hop in this country and what they do for the artists," he said. "And it's one of those things, I just feel like the token hip-hop artist from Canada."

This isn't the first time a Canuck hip-hopper has had issue with the Junos. Back in 1998, Vancouver group the Rascalz refused to accept their best rap recording award because they felt that the genre had been marginalized and kept off the televised portion of the awards show due to racism.

This year, although dance act Massari, R&B songstress Divine Brown and American hip-hoppers Black Eyed Peas all had performing slots during the show, no urban music awards were actually presented in front of a TV audience.

"For urban music in this country, I mean, not only was hip-hop not televised, but also reggae and R&B," said Offishall. "To me, it's sickening — and then they have the nerve to bring in a hip-hop act [Black Eyed Peas] from outside the country. I just had enough.

"The Black Eyed Peas are huge and if I was getting paid as much by the Junos as they were getting paid, I'd be here too," he said. "It has nothing to do with the Black Eyed Peas."

Offishall had performed to a music industry audience during the Saturday evening non-televised Juno Awards gala ceremony and also teamed with Sophia Milman to present the artist of the year award to Michael Buble on the TV show.

"They had me perform last night and give away the award — to me it's all a farce," he said. "I really can't put up with it anymore.

"It's not even that it's embarrassing, it's just disappointing. It doesn't matter what you do in this country, for me anyway, they don't recognize what I do.

"It's just a bunch of garbage so I won't be a part of it anymore."

I wonder if he is recognized anywhere else.....

EXACTLY!  Compared to some of the real music that real talented Canadian artists are coming out with (not nursery rhymes with beats in the background) this guy can shove it. >:D

Not that I've ever even heard Kardinal but I do think the Junos are a joke.

They claim themselves that the awards favour artists based on commercial success, not artisitc merit. What's the point?

Because they are, and do, what they claim??......I don't get the punchline then.

No real punchline to it, it's just a sad reality.
I've got no problem with Commercial success playing a role in the nomination and selection, but I nearly vomited when I saw who was nominated for what and who eventually won.
And then I broke out laughing when I saw they had the BEP and Coldplay tie for international artists, if there had been 3 big international names, who wants to guess it would be a three way tie?

On a side note, while I didn't much like the Juno's this year, all over Halifax they had showcases for artists, as well as a ton of great bands putting on shows all at once at one of the many different bars in Halifax as well as an amazing concert at the parade square which for most of us in Halifax shadowed the Juno's themselves (mostly because there were very few tickets available to people from here).

Thats not a side note, thats what it is about.....the Sunday night just helps to pay the bills.

I retract my previous designation of side note and replace it with a main point.

I will also join 48th and Kardinal in boycotting the Junos,
Until they recognise artists such as ourselves, we refuse to recognise them.

here here Che!

Listen up fellow Kanadians, we will not let the establishment tell us what is good in musik!!

Long live free speach...I mean Harmoney . . .

So this Cardinal is the official for what church?

I didn't know the Vatican allowed Cardinals to put on rap shows.....

The Roman Catholic Church is really getting with the times....I might go to Sunday mass this week.

Where is his diocese?

Regards

If the cardnials are rappers now...I would love to see the new popemobile. "This week on pimp my ride, we turn the popemobile into the DopeMobile! HOLLA!" ;D

LMAO...well now I just got my weekly does of humour...love the sarcasm
Pretty trivial this Kardinal in the big scope of things eh!

I say...so don't go then...someone else will be happy to...there are other genres...aren't there?
