KIWI shoe polish kit <<been serching for it but cant seem to find any place that has it>> I live in mississauga

SEWING Kit<< thats another one.. (found a small bag with needles and thread etc... from fabric land) is this appropriate or is there a special one

SHAVING CREAM,,,must not be transported by air ??? most gel shaving creams are all aerosol or under pressure...so pls advise

WHAT THE HELL ARE SHOWER TONGS :crybaby: :crybaby: always used a towel that was on the rack after a shower

You can find Kiwi Polish at almost any reputable cobbler and even in some grocery stores in the cleaning supplies aisle.

Shaving cream, go to the drug store and ask for shaving cream in a tube, it does exist and is worth it's weight in gold if you do any winter ex's as shaving cream in the cam freezes and will not work, the stuff in the tube still freezes but can be warmed up quickly in hot water or even by rolling it between your hands, I still use the stuff, even at home.

A basic sewing kit with the colors of your uniforms should suffice.

No idea what shower tongs are but you'd be wise to buy shower shoes, cheap flip flops that will save your feet from creepie crawlies.

even if you can't find shaving cream in a tube don't worry about taking the can as long as you are going commercial.  i fly all the time and always have my shaving gel in my checked baggage and have yet for it to explode in my suitcase.

;DIt's shower thongs not tongs.....and they are flip flops for your feet so that no nasty stuff gets on your bare feet.

got the shoe polish kit solved...wow took me about 2 hrs to track down what seems like the only cobbler in mississauga...man a dying trade that seriously needs to be revived..

Thx cath ....was checking the manual or the joining instructions that were posted online...and it does say "tongs" unless its a typo..but seems more like a scan of the original document...i will try to track that down where i got it from and put it up on the post ......BUT if ur correct then will a pair of slippers suffice as im not comfy with walking around with fuzzy bath slippers... ;D ;D seems a little too festive ;D ;D
(think thats the right army terminology...lol the word "thong" on a guy doesn't appeal to me either.. ;D not being a chauvinist but thats how i feel about it... ;D

Shower thongs are just sandles flip flops etc lol.  As for shaving gel  theres this stuff called a wilkinson sword soap bowl. You just lather up a shaving brush, add water of coarse and bingo homade shaving cream and it lasts a long time no need to heat it up etc.  I am also gathering kit and if you have any other ?? just give me a shout through here or email.

If you can still find them pool shoes work great in the shower the have non-slippery soles so you dont land on your backside if you happen to slip on a soapy floor

seeing as you haven't even been through basic i would suggest you dont go "flaming" others, who you have no idea what they've done or been through military wise.  When i went through the mega(thats where the reg force go) you need an actual CAN of shaving cream.  But as said in the FAQ's, all of that stuff will be made availiable for purchase when you arrive on course so that you can get the proper kit.  If by chance you buy the wrong stuff, you'll have to just repurchase the new stuff.  So kidd-o, take the advice of people who've already walked in the steps your about to take, and dont be an idiot.

Good for you that u've been thru  (seriously congratulations) but if u paid more attention to detail ..i guess thats part of  what basic is meant to instill ....you would have noticed that my post does not ask what ...well just the  shower tong part..but mostly where and questions like IF it is sufficient...and if u paid more attention detail while reading the other post, most of them are what!!

the question of "flaming you" well if u read the post above yours ...its clear as to why i choose to....if those people can take the time to write a sentence, outlining where i can obtain those items and what the heck are shower tongs  NOT WHAT ITEMS ARE REQUIRED IN THE KIT....see the difference ...

yeah i know i can obtain items from base canex or so i was told by most directing staff on this site..... being the idiot you are pls dont take this next phrase literally....I would not go to war with just the barrel of the rifle(see all it is still part of the equipment but still not complete) so i wouldn't go to brtc with an incomplete kit...DIFFERENCE .......I LIKE TO BE PREPARED...its called foresight so "kidd-o" if anything you had better get ur act together ......prolly ppl like you on the course that keep spares ( 1 for inspection and 1 for use)
