The short answer is: It depends.  Depends on your military occupation; depends on what skills and experience are desired for the deployment; depends on your availability...

Can someone in the navy do land deployments.

Can they = Yes, dependant on military occupation, billet distribution, and tasking details

Will they = Its uncommon.  I have 4 years posted to the Army and 2 Afghanistan deployments besides that.  But I am Supply Tech so its more common for us folks.
