Any idea on the KM rate?In general, a CAF member separated from their primary next of kin for service reasons, is entitled to one Leave Travel Allowance per fiscal year. The amount paid is equivalent to the kilometre rate from place of duty to where the next of kin live, minus the first 500kms, regardless of how much they spent on travel.
The member needs to submit receipts and a leave pass, stamped at the leave location (post office, police station) to their orderly room to be paid.
Current rate is 24.5 cents/km (updated quarterly - NJC Commuting Assistance Directive, Appendix A)Any idea on the KM rate?
That is what I said- regardless of how much you spend on travel, you are only getting so much reimbursement, based on the km rate.Current rate is 24.5 cents/km (updated quarterly - NJC Commuting Assistance Directive, Appendix A)
Also, not regardless of how much is spent. Lesser of actual cost and an amount upper limit determined by a formula (CBI 209.50(7))
Re-reading your post from yesterday, I can't figure out how I mistook what you wrote. Sorry about that. That is what I said- regardless of how much you spend on travel, you are only getting so much reimbursement, based on the km rate.
No prob. I should have phrased it more clearly.Re-reading your post from yesterday, I can't figure out how I mistook what you wrote. Sorry about that.
You would think they could space those two out a bit better, right? The problem with end year is that it happens at the same time as the start of the new year![]()
Or that they'd figure out the overlap and plan for it.You would think they could space those two out a bit better, right?
Another way to figure out your limit for the LTA instead of km rates, is looking at the costs of travel from the most Western point of Canada to the most Eastern point of Canada (i.e Victoria, BC to St. John, NL). Any costs that goes over the cap will not be reimbursed.Any idea on the KM rate?
