I'm attempting to move out to Victoria, however I'm having trouble finding a place to live.

I'm looking for a room, furnished or non, 400 - 500 a month (including utilities, must include internet) for a quiet working female.

Feel free to PM me if you know of a place, have a place, etc....even if its short term.

Cheers

Mich

I don't know where you are coming from, but good luck finding a place like that in Victoria that isn't a cardboard box.  I think you are going to have to look into something two to four times that expense to find anything remotely decent to live in.

Well as long as the cardboard box has internet!

All I need is a small room so that I can get me a job that pays more to move into an insulated cardboard box for the winter :)

I thought Kelowna was expensive......then I looked at Victoria

I see from your profile you are at RCSU Pac,  are you on a class b there? If so you can move into the wardroom for about 300 or so total R&Q is around 700, you would have to get your own phone line and internet line piped in, but it is an option.

I lived in Victoria for four years up until a few months ago. The rental scene is terrible there - low cost rentals are a scarce commodity to begin with, and what few units there are on the market usually get snapped up by the ever miserly UVic student.

I'm fairly confident to say that nearly all units in that price range will not come with internet, unless it's a basement suite, since they sometimes have more utilities thrown in than an apartment building (not to mention that apartment buildings in that price range are almost always in poor condition, making included internet very unlikely).

If you find a decent place, but it doesn't come with internet, you can get it on the cheap from Rogers / Yahoo. I bought their portable internet service, and its quite handy because you can take it with you when you travel, and it's only about 27$ a month for DSL speeds. Just food for thought. http://www.rogers.com/web/link/portableBrowseFlowBegin?productID=YPIB
Best of luck - keep scanning the papers and the net for deals, and hopefully something will turn up for you.

Thanks to everyone who pointed me in the right direction. Looks like I lucked out - got a nice room near the hospital so hoepfully that all works out.

Definately a crazy time to find a place to live - even to find something with roomates. Less than 3 percent vacancy rate.

I am looking for a flatmate to share my house, but thats on Bribie Island in QLD  ;D.

Glad you found something.

Regards,

OWDU
