Hey all,

I'm a student at the University of Toronto looking to write a paper on experiences of Canadian soldiers overseas. Looking for males or females of any age that have previously served a tour of duty overseas that would be willing to give a shot interview about their thoughts and experiences. It would be completely anonymous, at a place of your choosing and would probably take no more than 20 to 30 minutes. I'd be willing to buy you guys a beer/coffee or two as a thank you for your time and contribution. If anyone would be willing to participate or if you have any questions my e-mail is [email protected] (or you can contact me on here)! Thank you guys for your time, much appreciated!

Could you elaborate a little more on who you are and what you are requesting?  Are you doing research for a Masters program?  Are you doing a Research Paper for Psychology, History, Political Science, Foreign Studies, or some other discipline?  Is this something for the college paper, perhaps?  What do you consider "overseas"?  What timeframe are you looking at; Korea, Afghanistan, Somalia, Bosnia, Germany, Cyprus, Haiti, or some other distant place at some time in the last 100 years?  You have posed a rather broad question, with a rather vague description of the end result of your research.

PS.  We do have Spell Check.

And posting it once was fine....we saw it.

(and I wanted to reply so I could track this thread ... sorry but I didn't know how else to do it!)

"Notify" on the right hand menu at top and bottom of the thread, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, that's what Roy said to ... but when I click on "notify" it asked me if I'm sure I want to disable notifications for this topic ... ??? Oh well, I'll figure it out someday. :)

It's like a toggle switch.  It's asking if you want to disable notifications because they're currently enabled due to you posting in the thread.

Hey, sorry about the spelling and the double posting, I was in a rush when I wrote this and wasn't sure if it was the correct channel. I am writing a paper for one of my social psychology classes. It's not a research paper as I am not collecting any data or doing any analysis. It's something like a long essay that I hope will help me further on with my graduate school application.

I chose to interview Canadian soldiers that have previously served overseas because I am an Albanian immigrant and I remember American soldiers helping Kosovo during the war, I was young at the time but I was there and the idea that they had come across the ocean to help us when they didn't really have to left quite an impression on me.

So I need about four soldiers that I can interview. It doesn't really matter how long ago they served or where (so long as it was outside of Canada). I am not looking for any specific thing, just want to know what kind of experiences you had while serving abroad and possibly any opinions you might have about the role of Canadian soldiers as peacekeepers around the world (I'm quite ignorant on this topic and would truly love to hear your opinions as I have a friend who is in the reserves and I find he has a lot of insight that I do not have).

It wouldn't be anything official or formal just a short friendly discussion. My only goal is to find out more about the experiences of Canadian soldiers serving overseas and then write about it. I hope this clarifies things. Greatly appreciate your time and if anyone would like to participate I would be happy to meet them at a place of their choosing.
