Hey everyone! Heres my story...
My husband is in the military and we are a proud military family living on Base Borden. Well he is taking off in a few days for CFS Alert for his 6 mnth bit and during our seperation I am hoping to find out as much info as I can possible muster up about my joining in '08. Now I have so many questions as we are a young family, 2 kids under 3yrs old. I have been told by many of his friends and superiors that I should try reserves first then if I like it switch to reg. I myself think thats a waste of time, no offence to anyone, and want to jump right into it instead of beating around the bush. Now my husband is a cook making him have no limits to his postings. I want to go navy (he's navy as well), my true passio9n is combat navigations. But I have been told this will include many many months of seperation and lots of stress on the family. So I will sacrifice my dream and be a clerk/ supply tech/ medic etc. So that we have no limits as a family and can HOPEFULLY stay together. Then aagain most of the stories ppl tell me are just that stories and not solid truths, which I need desperatly to make my decision easier.
SO I guess what I would liek to find out is this...
1) What are the risks of family seperation ( e.g us being posted to different bases.)?
2) Being 25 what kind of fit tests would I be doing, what should I be prepared to complete?
3) DO I get a choice as to where I do my Basic Training(I live in Borden, for now, so I was hoping on that, being close to my family)?
4) When should I start getting everything done if I wanted to sign in early '08?
Thanx for your time!!!
