You guys still don't understand how Trump works and I'm tired of trying to explain it.If Trump's objectives were to get us to cleave closer to the US and away from China, he's going about it the wrong way.
Up until 3 weeks ago, there was a lot of support for weaning our economy off Beijing. That has since gone into full reverse.
Honey works better than vinegar.
Perhaps if we had an honest government we could likely find enough world customers that we wouldn't need to sell anything to the communists. I have zero problem divesting our trade away from the states, but we don't need to run headlong into the arms of Bejing in an effort to do it. We could have had deals for lots and lots of our LNG but trudeau screwed that up like a piker. And before we go looking for customers we need to guarantee the product delivery, which at the moment is next to impossible without the infrastructure. So don't be in such a hurry to tell the States to shove off or we'll just be here scratching our nuts until we get stuff built. Which won't happen under the liberals.I’m not a fan of expanding exports to China for China’s sake; just that Canadian producers need customers and too many of our eggs are in one basket. Ideally we’ll work aggressively to reduce trade barriers and open up export markets as ‘everywhere else’ as possible. Next year’s customers needn’t match next week’s. But we do need next week customers along the way. The U.S. administration seems determined to reduce the extent to which they’re that customer. Ok, their prerogative. We do need to adapt though.
Why not just do what Trump did. Tell China they get shit until their drugs and criminal activity stop affecting us and North America. We don't need their EVs or battery components anyway. That industry is all but dead. And it was trudeau who invited them in here with billions of our tax dollars to run their battery plants of which, in relation, Canada gets next to nothing out of it. I don't see any of those battery plants still working in five years. I know intimately how their companies work here.
They're criminals of the most heinous kind and we have no business enabling them by trading with them. People like trudeau and Carney will though, because they have no loyalty or human dignity, except to themselves and their stock portfolio.
