How intense is the rivalry between the RCD and LdSH? Do you guys have inter-regimental sports tournament or anything?

Are there any real differences in function between the two regiments other than history and location?

What about the 12th blindé? Their website is entirely en francais and my french is near useless. Do they get in on it, too? (I assume my chances of being posted to Valcartier are slim if my French isn‘t up to par.)

Dude.. we had a batch of totally english guys sent to us in 96.. eight of the poor little suckers.. some of them are still around..you never know!!

Bzz

Guess I better start practicing...

Je Suis
Tu Es
Il/Elle Est

It‘s the reflexive verbs that throw me off!

I will be happy where ever they decide to assign me. (My wife will be most happy to remain here in Edmonton so that will be my first choice.)

I just want to go and am curious as to the differences between the three regiments.

Intense, but in fun.

Not really.

They are no different from the other Armour Units, except their language of work is in Quebecois. For an English guy, it is usually a fast track to promotions.

There is an annual Armour Corps Bonspiel, where all Armour Units, Reg and Res, can enter teams. There is an annual Sports meet in Valcartier, Pleine Contact, where many of the Armour Units in the East meet for some winter sports, fun, and visit Carnival.

Whatever language you speak, does not really matter today. The 12 RBC are overborne right now, so many of the new Francophone crewmen are being posted to Anglophone units, where they will have a definite advantage career wise, in that they quickly become fluently bilingual and then have the potential to advance quicker through the ranks.

I love you George! :D
(Swings Beat-o-Meter around several times, testing for balance and strength)

Any rivalry is in fun. I have friends from all the Armour regiments. :cdn: The joshing is a good way to keep up moral and keeps everyone on their toes!

from what I understand all the tanks are going to LDSH and the east gets recce duties.

Yes...That‘s correct. Although from what I hear the Strats will keep their Coyotes for now.

Do us all a favour and fill out your profile so we know who we‘re speaking to please.

The Strat‘s have had a Sqn. of Leo‘s for awhile now.If I remember right they came straight from Germany when Lhar was closed down.

From a Sapper who‘s brother served with George.
Can you say WHOOOOSAR!(RCD) My brother used to go spare! :D And he still does when we get drunk and when I bug him about being a Muscle Head.
Yes George Mark is still Loyal to the Corps. :salute:

Can you say Fatcona!(LDSH)
The Strats do the same they go nut‘s!! :D

All of us in the Force‘s have Nick Names for each Regiment and Trade but it‘s all in fun. ;)

I was at the Freedom of the City parade in Fort Saskatchewan about a month back and all of the LdSH equipment was there, minus a few tanks, and it seems to me they had between 16 to 24, and they made quite a racket on the way out while the mounted troop was doing their thing.

Hey, Spr Earl.

Next time you talk to your brother, say Hi to him for me.

We knew each other way back when....

He'll remember me.  And ask him what ever happened to his "do nothing but drink in Mexico dream"?

Perseverance!!!
