LTA for visiting NOK

Hi, my NOK is not a blood relative but a life long friend who is like a sibling. Can I use LTA to visit my NOK?

I am reading through the LTA policy and it seems like you must use it for parents, siblings or grandparents and can only use it for your NOK if those don't apply. What makes them not apply? Like if I don't want to visit my parents (I have not talked to them in years so no interest in visiting them) and rather visit my NOK, is that permitted circumstance to use LTA?

While in your case it sounds reasonable, somebody wrote that policy because there's somebody who would use it to go on a drinking vacation with their friends to Vegas on the government dime.

If memory serves, they must be listed on your NoK form to use LTA.
