Man honored for 50 years of service at McDonald's
Mon Sep 14, 5:48 pm ET

CRESTWOOD, Mo. – A 68-year-old man who still works at the first McDonald's restaurant in Missouri has been honored for 50 years of service. Leonard Rhomberg began his job at a McDonald's restaurant in the St. Louis suburb of Crestwood in 1959, the year after it opened. And he still works there five days a week.

KSDK-TV reports that the restaurant's owners, Patrick and Tom Hillmeyer, thanked Rhomberg on Wednesday with a cake, gifts and a St. Louis Cardinals jersey.

If the military doesn't work out, there is always an opportunity for a career in the food service industry.

Was the 'cake' deep-fried with mustard and pickles on a sesame bun?

I wonder if they have a pension plan?

Apparently not much of one, or he probably wouldn't still be there.  :P

According to the US web site they can opt in to a 401K at the Asst Manager level and above.  Yeah that's prolly why he's still working there at 68 yrs of age.

I watched a news clip. He seems like a decent hardworking nice guy.

50 years, wow!

I worked there for 4 years and I hated everything about it but my coworkers... I could not imagine 50!

Reminds me of the movie where a middle aged guy is interviewed for a job application at a fast food restaurant. When told there are no manager positions available, he says "I'm looking for the least possible amount of responsibility."

Remember when McDonald's got sued by one of their employees and her supervisor?:
