Would service men who served with"B Echelon" in Italy and Europe be entitled to receive the Italy Star and the France and Germany Star. Also when a Regiment receives "Battle Honors" How are the serviceman who participated recognized?(i.e. ribrands, ribbons citations) and would serviceman in the "support echelons" be included?
Thanks for all responses

Any soldier who served in a theatre of operations during WWII regardless of function would be entitled to the medal for that specific theatre as long as they met the prerequisites for the award. When a unit receives a battle Honor the individual soldiers do not receive any award unless they were specifically mentioned in dispatches or for a medal of bravery.

Heh....IIRC means "If I Recall Correctly" - that shouldn't be included in the name, it is just "B Echelon".  Sorry for the confusion!

Actually, there is a variation on this in our Army. 2PPCLI has received two honours: Kapyong and Medak Pocket that are signified on the uniforms of those serving in the battalion.

Kapyong was awarded as a Battle Honour, but was also the subject of a US Presidential Citation. The Battle Honour and Citation streamer are on the Colours, while soldiers serving in 2PP wear the Citation badge (The Swimming Pool).

Medak was not (IIRC) actually a Battle Honour, but was the subject of a Governor General's Commendation to the battalion. All soldiers serving in 2PP wear the commendation badge, while those who were at the action may wear the badge regardless of where they serve. The unit also flies a GG's Commendation Pennant.

Cheers.
