Medical Officer interest

Hello,

I will be graduating with an MD next year Feb and am interested  in possibly joining. Is there a way I can be put in touch with current military doctors (pref family medicine), to organize shadowing/clerkship? I just like to get a taste of day-to-day activities before deciding on a firm path.

I have tried reaching out to two emails posted on the official army site (one being a generic medical health email, another being a recruiter for my area), and have no heard back.

I also saw a link posted on the army site that stated the military does have programs set in place for specialty residencies (ER etc), are those only for individuals that have first completed a residency already?

I'd suggest, first, that you take some time and explore the rest of this Site. There are a number of currently-serving and retired medical people here who can help, but you would do well to read through some of the older threads first. You'll likely find answers to questions that have not even occurred to you yet. It's becoming even more challenging to come up with ones that have not been, but it does still happen.

I will likely merge this thread with an older one soon.

As long as you only ask a question in one thread, that is fine. We'd not ban you, anyway - just glare and make rude noises.

People often post in this forum when answers can be found more readily elsewhere, and, as nobody by Recruiters and DS should respond here, nobody else can/should. We try to keep the "Ask a CAF Recruiter" forum "clean".

I apologize for you not receiving a response from your emails sent, we've actually requested that the generic medical email on the forces.ca site be removed and we're still waiting for it to be removed.
I am one of the 4 Specialist Recruiters that has been put in place to recruit Health Services Trades; we're broke up by region (Western, Central, Eastern, Support).  As the Support person I also respond to Social Media queries, if you would like to send me a PM with what region of Canada you reside in I can put you in touch with the appropriate Specialist Recruiter for your region.
