Hey guys, I don't personally have internet where I am so I'm using a buddies computer. But I know that was besides my point... Anyways not to long ago almost a year ago i was diagnosed with Anorexia, how ever I am no longer at that state of mind and place and have recovered fully. And I was wondering since i wasn't hospitalized or any of that sort would that jeopardize (spelling) my chances of getting into the forces? My doctors tell me it shouldn't how ever I thought I'd get a professional opinion. Will I still be able to get in even after I recovered?

Yes, many of the people here are professionals, but not the professional that you are looking for.  Although you will get lots of opinions on this matter I'm sure.  However, the only real answer will be what you hear from the medical staff at CFRC and/or the results from the medical board.  Therefore, I strongly suggest that if you are interested in applying, to head down to your local CFRC and begin the process.  You will have your answer in due time.  Just remember to answer all questions truthfully and to the best of your ability, without lying or holding back information.

Thanks for the information. I can still do the push ups and everything too :P made sure of it. I did how ever pay a visit got a presentation and have the forms to fill out just wasn't to keen on this whole situation.

Do not rely on the advice of your own doctors with regard to who the Forces should or shouldn't accept. I've had to get forms and letters from three doctors and likely a fourth after I go through laser eye surgery and they knew next to nothing about recruitment medical procedures. Hell, they knew absolutely nothing about the Forces itself. The medical staff at the recruiting centres will provide you with any forms you need to have filled out and signed by your doctors concerning your state of health. And most importantly, make sure you ask the medical staff about ALL possible obstacles, otherwise you could end up like me and spend three years getting one thing sorted out after the other.

Good luck.

If you bring it up to a recruiter he will give you a bland answer, since he is not a Health Services professional, and isn't allowed to make judgements about medical conditions.

Talk to the recruiter to find out about the different occupations, and how your education, interests and aptitudes would best fit with an occupation.

You could mention you have some medical issues you need to discuss, and depending on the workload at that CFRC/Det, they might arrange for you to see the recruiting PA earlier in the process than otherwise is the case.  That's when you unload your entire storey about all your medical issues, and the PA will either dismiss them as not significant, or send you off to get your doctor to fill out a bunch of forms.

Blindspot is giving you good advise from his own experience - read and heed.

Will do sir, I was told they need to know everything right? now this may sound dumb but should i notify when i go in and hand in my application? or should i wait say after PT lol

so how would i bring this up with the recruiter? any ideas?

There is a medical portion of your recruitment process. You will have to indicate certain illnesses, surgeries and any medications on a form. The medic will then ask questions and create a medical profile that is sent to Borden (I believe?) Ottawa to be reviewed by a medical officer. The medical officer then catches any flags in your profile and returns instructions on how to follow up. ie getting family, eye doctor/psychiatrist letters.

okay thanks for the information. So all i have to do is get this cleared and out of the way, on the medical form and im set? I mean last time i checked i recovered fully. So It shouldn't be a problem. Get some forms signed and ill be on my way hopefully. thanks again.
