MILCOTS 522 Amp Cable Help

Hi. I am trying to get one of our unit's MILCOTS setup to take the 522 with Amp, but we seem not to have the right cable.

We have the one that hooks up to the truck and pokes up out of the floor at the back, but this is the wrong type to mate with the Amp.

We have, I think; a cable with a 2-prong male and 10-prong female end now and I think what we need is the 10 prong male/2 prong female to hook into that.

None of our nieghbouring units have one though and we need to know what it is called to order it in; stock # NSN, anything would help.

Thanks again.

Unless that vehicle is assigned the Comm Suite to have an amplified radio, you shouldn't be modifying the suite to make it work. If the checklist says you only get a non-amplified radio, then you'll need to request a replacement vehicle from outside the unit to have one with an A+.

Techs get angry when you start cutting zap straps and adding your own cabling into vehicles.

I feel that I need to agree with PuckChaser on this having been a tech in the CF, they/we do get quite upset when unauthorized modifications of equipment are carried out. This is not only because the modifiers are cutting our grass, it also has to do with many other requirements that the modifier may not be aware of. Such as but not limited to grounding requirements, the possibility that the vehicle may now require an upgraded alternator/generator and/or extra batteries. Although sometimes certain items may fall by the wayside in the face of "field expediency" or under under emergency conditions. Also keep in mind that if any unauthorized modifications cause any problems or safety issues there will be an investigation, at what level would depend on the severity of the event.

Yeah, I talked to one of the local signallers and she explained to me that none of our MILCOTS are set up that way. I thought it was just an adapter we were missing.

Mods, you can kibosh this thread if you want.

Thanks guys.
