Just wondering guys what you thought of this channel...coverage wise. Its a little too American at times...which is unfortunate cause Ive yet to see any Canadian footage or coverage of Canadian Training...but they do have some great footage. Yesterday I saw a great Documentary on the American Rangers Trials and obstacles. Tonight beginning at 8 Eastern I believe its all behind the scenes look at Seal training and Monday at 8 or 9 (not sure) eastern its (Ambush Iraq) a look at the life of American Soldiers-front lines as they entered Baghdad and such close combat as Fallujah. Little breather from all the fireworks eh ? It has now become one of my favorite channels. Enjoy.  :cdn:

You'll quickly find that it's the same shows over and over, I just dumped after having it for 6 months. I can honestly say that I've seen ever show they put on. I say watch for a month and then it starts to repeat. Once it gets new stuff, I'll add it back again as it did have some good content. BTW, the only good canadian military show is Truth, Duty, Valour, which comes on OLN.  8)

I watch Truth Duty Valour mostly for the soundtrack  :P

In all seriousness, I think that show is great and it's about time that we had something that can show people some of the kinds of courses and training that we go through.

The only time they talked about the canadian military was for the Dieppe landing...  They kept saying how canadians were easy targets for the germans and describe how we got crushed  :-\

You guys almost sound surprised that the military channel has little or no content about the CF.  The simple reason they don't is that it's an American station, part of the US' Discovery channel series of networks (which is different than our discovery channel, BellGlobe Media and CTV just have the rights to the name discovery channel and the content).

And like all digital channels, they spit in the face of subscribers by providing subpar television that is not commerical free.  I'm sorry, I'm throughly disappointed by the majority of the digital channels that are available.  Discovery Civilization is okay, but it all stuff that was at one time played on the mother network and its usually subpar docs.  That being said, I have enjoyed the content on both IFC and the Documentary channel.

those channels and the ability to time switch (ie: have feeds from different stations from across the country) is nice... just not amazing.  I suppose if you have an HDTV and a HD box then it would be worthwhile.

Well, it's true, what else do you want them to say? The mission was a failure.

Bad news guys....for the life of me i couldnt find the TDV showtimes in my area of Toronto....not on the  OLN website..TDV website or Starweek of local listings. So I emailed TDV directly to find out if it was just me and I got a speedy reply from Mr. Colin Mc Keown of Jencor Entertainment Inc and this text is pasted from the original email he sent me back- there is still hope for you satellite or digital users- as for me I gotta hold till September:

Right now OLN is not airing the series and will not again until September.
However, CBC's digital network, Country Canada, is currently airing the
show. If you have satellite or digital you can watch the first seasons
shows. Go to this website for times:

Bummer.... :cdn:

Oops, should have mentioned that! I saw that country canada was carrying it in an ad spot, oh well, cest la vie!
