Moved threads

When a thread is moved and a thread is left behind with a link, does that link-thread ever expire and go away?

. . . or is there a way to prevent said link-threads from appearing on the home page when a thread has been moved from the News or Admin forums?

No, moderators have the option of including a re-direction link when they move a thread.  I usually only leave one if the thread being moved is a split topic or one which has got alot of attention so as to let everybody find it again; other then that, I don't leave linking threads as they still clutter up the original forum like the moved thread did.
