Dose anyone have any pictures of the MREs from the early 1980s and all its contents? Also where can I go to find a map of C.F.S. Nanaimo 1983 or a map of C.F.B. Wainwright 1985? Sorry I was not sure where to place this post but surely someone will tell m where to go, one way or the other.

Intense deja vu.

Who's taking bets on this being followed by a question about rangers?

(Also, to the original poster, I'm sorry this reply is of no help)

Watch eBay, ask on military collectors forums, seek our militaria shows and sales in your area. Make contacts with people who deal in paper items, and if you befriend them, maybe they will watch for what you are seeking. You can also try posting your request on such places as craigslist for the communities you want maps in, someone may have one to sell or give away.

The CF uses IMPs, not MREs.  The IMPs replaced the Individual Ration Pack (canned rations) in the 1980s.

Wikipedia link to IMP info:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Individual_Meal_Pack

Wikipedia link to C-Ration info:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-ration

Second link focuses on the American C-Rations, but I would guess the Canadian ones were similar.

See how easy using Google is?  ;)

Yep, seems to be a yearly thing:  joeye11svcbn in 2009, naughty15tracy in 2010 and now kimoneal16 in 2011.  Wonder what the user name will be next year?  ;D

Missed joeye11svcbn, I knew there was another one looking for maps, I was thinking edwardsjoey96 (Though wouldn't surprise me if they were the same person)

Oops!  Missed that one.  Agreed.

And would be wrong.
Although i don't have pictures, the daily ration packs came in 2 boxes.
One was can goods & the other dry goods, drink mixes & condiments .
There was some very good products in them. OK some not so good also.
Canned bacon was one of my favorites.
Condemned fruit cocktail not so great.
Frozen sardines also not my favorite.
Other can goods I remember were chicken stew, canned ham, peanut butter, ham & egg omelet, & chili.
Dry goods had napkins, crackers, tubes of jam or honey, candies or chocolates, coffee, tea, fruit juice mix, sugar, creamers, instant potatoes, ketchup, salt & pepper to name some things.

I stand corrected*

There ya go, I learned something new today.  ;D

*But then, I'm not the one concerned about every minute detail of uniforms, meals, maps, etc from the 1980's.

and don't forget the 2dried up  smokes that also came with dry goods pack, X ROYAL;
Pro Patria

The can opener included in the IRP, a bigger version of the American P-38, was very useful long after the rations were gone. I still have one going strong after more than 30 years. I also have a original P-38 and that is much older.

Damn you must be older than me as I don't remember the smokes. ;)
I do remember a Northern Viking Ex. when our return flight was delayed about a week due to weather & anyone drinking tea was taking their lives in in their own hands as the tea leafs were the only thing we had to smoke.

kkwd: agreed those can openers were great.

There was bacon? I never got no fricken bacon :'(

Canned ham was good as was the corned beef hash ( yeah I know someone had to like it, I also liked the ham omlette in the IMPs)
