My application is being processed but worried about academic standing

I'm attending university currently and have applied to the CAF. Hoping to become a Signals Officer.

However, I have been notified by professors that I have pretty much failed two courses this semester.
Currently my average is 65%.

I have known some of my friends failed a few courses but they were already in the training process
at that time. So basically already recruited.

So should I be worried? This is really only a slight hickup in my academic career but still it is causing me to
lose a lot of sleep at present.

Hard to say really.

On one hand like you said it could only be a hiccup. If I were any sort of employer and saw that you picked yourself up by the bootstraps after this and improved it's pretty easy to forgive some lapses.

On the other hand, job opportunities in all fields including the Canadian Forces are becoming extremely competitive. It's probably a good idea to keep screw ups like this to a minimum.

I would like to pose a question for you to consider though. Why is you're GPA so low and why are you failing two classes?

I would venture to guess that it is because you don't really enjoy what you're learning. Even if you're not the best at something it's pretty hard to fail at something that you really love and don't mind putting the hard work into doing.

You might want to consider changing majors or faculties to something you REALLY enjoy doing. Especially if your plan after Uni is to become an officer because then it's irrelevant what you study.

Good luck next semester!

Thanks for the good luck I will need it. I switched majors in my first year, now in my last year. I was told today you will need at least a 68% average or above by
someone I know to get enlisted. If so then it's pretty disappointing to hear. Feel like giving up already and dropping out. Really do not want to because then
I have a career in flipping burgers ahead. But I am really getting very fed up with it all.

If you're applying for ROTP and if memory serves me correct, you will need a 70% academic average to be accepted as a "Senior" student.  However, if you are already in your last year of University and applying for DEO Sigs, then you should be more concerned about obtaining your degree at this point in time.

Well I passed this semester by the skin of my teeth. So am very happy about that. It's best to give it a shot anyways. And if I can't be an officer I can always try to be infantry I suppose. Definitely need to stay optimistic. Someone once told me to let the employer tell you that you are unqualified, for nothing ventured then nothing gained.

If you are interested in the Sigs world why switch to infantry? There are lots of interesting jobs for non-Officer types and the chance to lead people in the Signals Corps. Plus there is always the chance to commission later in your career if you still want to be an Signals Officer.

So if I do not get recruited as an officer would I need to submit another application for a non-officer position?
And I thought if you do not get recruited(would definitely be from an academic standpoint for me) then that was it for that position.
Applied to the reserves and regulars on my application.

No, you shouldn't need to submit another application, the Recruiter should "re-orient" you.

If you are applying for ROTP or DEO (ie; officer), then academics are only one thing that is looked at.

You cannot apply to the Reserve Force and Regular Force at the sametime.  It's either one or the other but not both!

Guess it's not all bad then. When god closes a window, he opens a door as they say. Really just want to be in the CAF so badly. It's been my lifelong dream.
