I am a Permanent Resident who immigrated to Canada from Jamaica at the age of nine. Now, at 19, I am in the process of joining the Canadian Armed Forces. I initially expected my background check to take longer; however, my recruiter informed me that, due to my young age and lack of a criminal record in both Canada and my home country, the process should be relatively quick. This news is exciting, as I have aspired to pursue this career since I was about five years old.

Wow, good for you! I'm also 19 and moved to Canada just January this year, from Taiwan. Sadly they told me my security screening and reliability status will take longer because I have lived in Taiwan the past 5 years, despite having no criminal record. They care more about where you lived the past 5 years than where you moved from, I think. How is your application so far? It might be different from mine because I'm going for ROTP.
