Hello,

I am trying to find information about my grandfather, who passed away in 1958. The only information I can find on the internet is this snipet

Course 30: May 16 - August 20, 1941
Squadron Leader A.V. Ashdown, Chief Accounting Officer, Camp Borden, presented the pilot "wings" assisted by Group Capt. R. S. Grandy, O.B.E., Commandant, and Flt-Lieut S. F. Douglass, Adjutant.

Squadron Leader Ashdown addressed the young pilots following the presentation.

"The awarding of these badges here today marks the culmination of a carefully planned course which you all have completed in a creditable manner. Shortly, you will enter more intensively into the training for the object for which you entered the service - to defeat and destroy our common enemy, an enemy as cunning and resourceful as he is barbarous and ruthless. This task will require all the energy you possess. We feel that the glorious traditions of our service are safe in your hands, and that you as individuals will add to the splendid record of the British airmen in this conflict. We wish you all success and good luck."

Other information that I know of from a telegram sent after the war is that he was shot down over Tripoli in 1942 and was captured by the Germans. He spent 2 years as a POW bouncing around from one camp to aother in Occupied Europe before escaping.

He passed away when my father was 3 and information about him is very very limited. Does anyone know of any resources I can use to search? I have tried ancestry.ca but I do not know any other sources to get information.

I have tried searching the archive sites but have turned up nothing.
