It would never be a perfect system.
But I think that there can be a better one than what we have.
People getting charged, released, charged, released for things like this, is not a good system. Same way Canada's impaired driving charges are too soft. Same way our murder charges are too soft. A 20 year old guy, two doors down from me, is going to jail for 2 years for driving drunk and killing his friend in the passenger seat. Then, trying to say it was his friend driving the car. The night before he left to start his sentence, he had a party, the police came and busted him driving a golf cart drunk out of his mind. Yes around here the only way to get a party thrown for you is if its a "going away to jail" party. He will be out of jail before his sentence is up, and I really don't feel like my little sister driving down my dirt road when I'm gone, and being plowed into by this idiot. Same way I don't want her, or anyone, being assaulted by a known offender. I worry about things like that.
Personally I like California's way of doing it, you break the law three times your off to jail for life. That seams fair.
