Hey all,

I am a 17-year-old who is looking to join the armed forces in the future and I am friends with some US vets (a Marine rifleman and an Army signalman) and they said that in the American armed forces if you enlist with a university degree you are promoted to an advanced starting position (like e-2 or e-3, aka Pv2 or PFC), and I was wondering if Canada offers something similar like an expedited path to corporal.

If you enlist with a university degree, you're eligible to try out for an officer position, I believe. Not sure how it works in the NCM side.

You may be able to bypass some of your training if your degree or diploma is directly related to your career, however you cannot "jump ranks" by having a degree. You start as a Pvt. no hook like everyone else.
