Needs advice

Hello,

My Fiancee is trying to join and she first applied in 2009, then in 2010, and now in 2011. She just did her aptitude test and was going for an interview when they called and gave the bad news saying she needs to upgrade her math to pure math grade 10. She is applying for RMS clerk, and Meteorological tech. (yeah i don't know any either but it sounds like a good trade to me except for the shift work) Anyways, I wish they told her this back in 2009 when they first saw her transcript but unfortunately that stuff happens. I know on the forces website it just says high school diploma but I was wondering if the requirements change often and is there somewhere I can find the updated list for that. It is weird because she can apply for reserve force rms clerk because standards are different for them. She can also try to go supply tech. She is so heartbroken and doesn't know what to do. Any advice?

Some trades have specific educational requirements, and with competition being tougher for position these days, it's not something that can be bypassed.

Honest advice? 2 options. Upgrade math and go for the trade she has her heart set on, or don't upgrade and try for a different one. That's pretty much it.

When you go to whatever CFRC you're dealing with you can ask for an Officer/NCM job layout which will have a list of every single position plus minimum educational requirements. I'm surprised in 3 years of applying she never received one...

I wish they would update the requirements on the site. She has grade 11 math in Ontario and passed the aptitude test but still needs to upgrade her math.

If she did not meet the requirements for the right type of grade 10 math education, it is utterly irrelevant that she has grade 11 and passed the CFAT.
