Just so there's no confusion. This is NOT only an E&K facility. It is a shared facility with the Windsor Regiment, 21 Svc Battalion, the Windsor Military Band, the RCAC and the Windsor Police. The facility belongs to the City of Windsor and we are all equal lodger units.

Sorry, forgot the Band.

that is a nice looking place.. at least from the outside.. I wonder if the air quality inside will be better then Denison Armouries...

Having worked in both, I can say no. It's the same. Except when the wind is blowing toward us from the sewage plant next door :P

:D Came for the money, stayed for the mud.. no, delicate scents and earthy freshness of the CF !

Wow! Well done to 31 CBG and the Windsor Garrison units! Talk about making a splash and Conecting with Community: that's the way to do it. BTW we have for a while now been considering a Joint User Project with Winnipeg Police Service: what is the assessment on how well this has turned out with the Windsor Police? Cheers.

the quality of air in dennison isn't to bad...it only gets really rough if your in the dirty work area when the garage doors are closed and theres a vehicle running

CFN Orange: I was in LFCA when we first started planning the new facility at Downsview, but I have never been in it (I left LFCA in 2000). I would be interested to hear your opinions of it as a user. What's good? What's bad? And what happened to the old Denison Armoury? IIRC it was scheduled for demolition. Cheers.

It's not working too badly so far.   There are still a lot of details to work out.   There are a few outstanding issues ex messes.   There have yet to be any conflicts re classroom bookings and such.   We would LOVE to be able to use their range, and they are more than willing to let us, but the army, so far, is saying no.   The repel tower, however, is available to us.   I don't know about their indoor kill house.   I've seen it, but I haven't heard of anyone other than the police using it so far.

Thanks. I would imagine that most WPS activity occurs during the weekday, while Windsor Garrison uses it mainly in the evenings and on weekends, so there is not too much space use conflict. What is happening to the old Armoury right downtown? Cheers.

Yup - they must have brought in the same guys that trashed the Avro Arrow
(i.e. they didn't waste any time turning it into a nice lawn ... wouldn't want any surplus buildings on "choice" property, would we ... ?  On the other hand, the saga of Downsview Park drags on ... and on ... and on ... I'd venture my opinion that the differing rates of development is linked to the desirability of "serviced" real estate, and not)

Meanwhile, on other fronts ... OCAP staged yet another nasty, confrontational demo at the old Police HQ on Jarvis in a futile attempt to squat and demand it be turned into housing for street people (many of whom don't want to live in shelters, but ... I digress ... I'm just sorry the Metro's didn't have their full contact sports gear on hand for the event ... oh, well ... they'll eventually learn when enough sick chits are submitted the day after such donnybrooks ...).
