The flaw with that Rumour is the amount of Deployments Recce gets sent on.  With one less, perhaps two less, Regt supplying Troops for the tasks already slated, the burn out of the Recce Sqns will happen too soon for comfort.  Just look at the stress put on the three remaining Regiments today, after the 8 CH (PL) were disbanded and the 8 CH (R) became a 10/90 Regiment (Now just a normal Reserve Unit again.) back in the early '90s.

Politically, the 12 RBC will remain in Valcartier.  Just as the R22R will never be disbanded.  Politics will ensure that. 

The smart move would actually be to bring back the 8 CH (PL), and then the Garries, and then........

The larger the pool to draw upon, the easier it would be to fill the slots for all the taskings on Tours that the Government so graciously throws our way.

I have found that the Rumour Mill in the Corps has an approx turn around time of about three days from Coast to Coast.  On a slow day, in the canteen of C Sqn, with no Rumours in the air, we started one that was plausible:  C Sqn RCD in Gagetown, an Independent Tank Sqn, was going to rebadge 12 RBC and become a Francophone Unit and part of 5 Bde.  Within three days there was a call from an interested/curious party in Vancouver.  Doesn't take long to spread and morph into something completely different.
